Today I woke up to a delicious breakfast courtesy of the world renowned chef and culinary artist, Stephanie Fraioli.
Omelet with mushrooms and bell peppers and a cute little fruit salad! |
Stephanie had to go to a mandatory meeting on base. So Michelle and I decided to hang around Kaiserslautern and explore the neighborhood until she got back! We walked down the street and discovered a wall that appeared to be the ruins of a large building. The plaque on the edge of it was only in German so I have no idea what this structure could have been.
But it looked pretty cool |
There was a map nearby and we realized that there was Japanese garden only a few blocks away. So we ventured into it.
A Japanese Garden was just too tempting to pass up.. |
It was about 4.50 euro per person, which wasn't bad. And once we got inside, we were greeted by some stone feet.
Built by aliens. |
All around the garden were these great little Buddha statues.
Pretty and tranquil. Aliens? |
The gardens were beautiful. They had multiple pathways winding around several ponds and waterfalls.
Great place to relax and meditate. If they only sold wine... |
There was also a nice rock garden.
Mm. Rocks. Delicious. |
Then we found more ponds and some trickling water!
I NEED MORE!! |
AND A WATERFALL.
AND IT WAS SPECTACULAR. |
HERE'S ANOTHER ONE LOOK AT IT LOOOOOK AAAATT IIIIITTTT
I kinda wanted to jump in.. |
Some of the statues had offerings presented in front of it.
This one had chestnuts. Delicious. |
Then we got to the part of the garden with all the Koi, or goldfish in it.
A lot.. of.. freakin.. goldfish.. |
OH AND THEN THIS GIRL DECIDED TO STICK HER HAND IN THE POND AND PET THE CARP LIKE THEY WERE PUPPIES.
I hope she enjoys the smell of her hands later. |
Then once she was done wreaking havoc on the garden, peace was once again restored.
for a little while at least... |
Until Michelle decided to go through a tiny door.
It was designed to fit her and only her. |
And then I became Emperor of the Gardens.
Bow down to me, or my Japanese Maple Trees WILL DESTROY YOU. |
THEN. THERE. WERE. MORE. WATERFALLS.
Excuse me, can I have some more waterfalls please? |
...and more... water...falls...
Okay, great thanks. |
After the garden we walked back to the center of town and decided the explore the "walk platz".
Basically the downtown area of K-town |
We saw the local Cathedral.
Its bells never rang frequently enough. JUST KIDDING THEY RANG ALL THE TIME. |
Then as we walked along we saw this guy floating on thin air.
He was just so happy to see us |
Then we passed a bar and I found the following:
You do, though. You really do. |
These will no doubt help me in the future. |
At the end of the platz, we happened upon a large fountain.
Town fountain? |
Where they had these funny metal costume things.
Where I could be a Lady in distress! |
Or a wise and dignified Lord. |
And then there was a fish. AND I RODE IT.
WEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeee |
Nearby was this awesome building.
I thought it'd be a museum. NOPE just an office building. |
Then we walked back to the apartment, met up with Stephanie, and went out for dinner. I once again got A GIANT BEER.
I CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH. |
And got this amazing gigantic heap of basically macaroni and cheese topped with caramelized onions.
OMNOMNOM |
After dinner we all went back to the apartment to get to sleep early. Tomorrow, (my birthday), is a VERY busy day!!
