Last Supper

Today was our last day in Germany. After the great food and alcohol we had the previous night, I unsurprisingly woke up with an intense hang over. Yayy. But this wasn't any typical hang over. This was simple yet powerfully mind-blowing nausea. I had to take it easy. So we all started the day off drinking a lot of water and lounging around. Once we got ourselves together (which took several hours), we went to the base to go shopping at the BX. I was so out of it I barely remember being there. Afterwards we got back to the apartment, packed, and went out for our last dinner. We walked through the platz and ended up at a restaurant called St. Martin. By this time I had recovered from the hang over so I started the meal off with this:

Nothing beats a hang over like another hang over

The menu at this place looked amazing. Stephanie and I shared fresh mussels in a white wine sauce as an appetizer.

Guys, the sauce... was... INCREDIBLE.

And for my main course, I HAD to do it German style. So I ordered Wild Boar!!!

In a reduced mushroom gravy and hand made buttered noodles.

As I worked through this delicious meal,

It wasn't a very difficult task...

I had a sudden and terrifying realization. Our trip was ending... we were going back to America in only a few hours. The depression set in. So we ordered another round of beers, and dessert.

Chocolate souffle...mmm..

It would be a long time before Michelle and I would be able to enjoy the rich cuisine of Germany and France again. So we had to savor every bite. Dinner ended, we walked back to the apartment, and packed up the rest of our things. We napped for a few hours, but since our flight back to JFK was at 8:30 am, we had to leave at 5 am. We bid farewell to Germany, to the incredible experiences we had, to the drinks we consumed, and to the friends we made. Once we got through security, customs, the gate, and got on the plane, Michelle had to see this for the next few hours.

Ain't she a beauty?

The flight was around 8 hours, and was very pleasant and quiet. We landed at JFK safely, where the magnificent Bruce was waiting to pick us up.

This was a truly amazing adventure, and I'm so happy I could share it with all of you. I have to thank Stephanie for everything she did for Michelle and I. She was an impeccable hostess and it was a pleasure staying with her. So this is my last entry for Germany, but who knows, it may not be long until I'm off to my next drunken travel destination!!
