Time for a Feast

Early this morning, Michelle, Stephanie, and I took the ICE train back from Paris to Kaiserslautern. I was sad to say goodbye to ol' Paree. Two days definitely weren't enough to explore the city fully, but I'm glad I could get an introduction to it. I would love to come back someday. So the train dropped us off in K-town, and as we walked along the platz back to the apartment, we passed by a local farmer's market. We had been planning to make a big dinner that night and Stephanie was going to invite some of her friends. We realized that the market would be an excellent place to get some fresh and local food. My favorite stand was the CHEESE TRAILER AUUGH!!

SO MUCH DELICIOUS CHEESE

I wanted to make a sangria, so we looked around for some fresh apples, oranges, raspberries, and peaches.

Found sooommee

So we got what we needed, headed back to the apartment, took a nap, AND STARTED COOKING.

THE FINAL PRODUCT. Pinot noir with a variety of fruit. Poured over prosecco and DELISH!!

Michelle made an apple pie which was cooling on the counter. I snapped this picture of the sisters making Italian rice balls, stuffed artichokes, and baked ziti!

Mamaroneck-Italian cuisine has invaded Germany. Thousands flee from their homes.

Michelle's Italian rice balls! Made with Japanese rice, cheese, breadcrumbs and some other crap I need some booze shut up.

Cheesey and riceyy mmm

Stephanie's neighbor brought these jewels. Basically, they were German/Italian wine that was still fermenting. The yeast inside was in the process of converting the sugars to alcohol. It was a deliciously fruity and fizzy drink. It was also very strong. Apparently each bottle is at a different point in the fermentation process so you may get a weaker and more tart drink, or a sweeter and more alcoholic one.

WE GOT SWEET AND ALCOHOLIC.

Kim, Stephanie's neighbor, also brought this. A traditional German onion quiche thing that you eat with the wine at this time of year.

It was so good I ate it ALL.

The stuffed artichokes were amazing as well.

I ated it all.

And I loved the asparagus with a balsamic reduction sauce.

Maybe a little too much.

During and after dinner we watched a couple movies and drank and enjoyed each other's company. Then I passed out from being stuffed, drunk, and happy.
