Now THAT'S the way to intimidate people!! |
And it had a beautiful statue at the top.
I think the statues were of mixed races too. |
And a great view of the city below.
If only those people WOULD GET OUTTA THE SHOT |
Then we went to the observatory which was almost at the top of the mountain, and we saw an even better view of Incheon.
A surprisingly clean and modern city, at least around where we were. |
There was also an exhibition hall that gave a lot of great details about the war as well as these notes. They were paper things written by visitors all wishing good thoughts and luck for Korea and those lost during the fighting.
So touching!! |
THEN I FOUND A PLANE AND CLIMBED ON IT RAWR
I tried to fly it but then Bruce and Jan got mad and told me to get down. WAH. |
THEN I SAW ANOTHER WATERFALL. THIS ONE HAD A WATER MILL AND I WANTED TO RIDE ON IT.
But once again I was foiled by Bruce and Jan. And common sense. Sigh. |
Afterwards, we took a taxi back to the hotel, checked out, got our stuff, and we were off to the airport! We got there early so I went to a Paris Baguette, which is a chain bakery place, and got these delightful items:
From left to right, A Belgian waffle, a sausage pizza thing with.. corn.. and mayonnaise .. blegh.. a PIZZA DOUGHNUT.. and some kind of egg salad sandwich. AND I ATE IT ALL. |
So the flight was 13 hours on a 777. It wasn't great but it got us home safe. There was a Chinese tour group on the plane with us and I SWEAR TO GOD ALMOST ALL OF THEM WERE SICK AND THEY KEPT COUGHING AND SNEEZING EVERYWHERE AND I WANTED TO BARF ON A BABY'S FACE. But hey, that's life, right?
So I'm back in New York safe now. This was an incredible experience, and if any of you guys out there have a chance to visit South Korea, do it, without any hesitations. We were there for just under two weeks, and even though we all drove each other crazy at times, we've grown a lot closer. I'm glad I could share the past two weeks with my family, and these are memories I'll cherish for a lifetime. The country was breathtaking, the people were helpful and friendly, we always felt safe, the food was consistently delicious AND cheap, and the hotels were all affordable, unique, and luxurious. Greg is a lucky man to be working here, and I hope we can visit again sometime soon!
One of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen while we were waiting to board the plane. |
BUT DON'T WORRY FOLKS, IN LESS THAN 10 DAYS, I'LL BE TRAVEL DRINKING/BLOGGING AGAIN!! Anddd thiss tiiiimmee,
