So today is the last day we’ll be in Ulsan. SO YOU KNOW I HAD to make it count! We started the day off right- with LUNCH! Greg took us to
this GREAT chicken soup place. There was basically an entire chicken in your
soup that’s stuffed with rice and ginseng. It tasted amazing. It was comfort
food at its finest!
Mmmm just like granny use to make
Then Greg took us on a tour around the neighborhood where he
lives. He showed our parents his apartment building for the first time.
Not too shabby...
And we got to catch a great view of the most massive crane
in the world!
I got 16 tons and a bitch ain't one
Then we walked down the street and saw a beautiful view of
the Sea of Japan (Koreans call it the East Sea).
preeeeeeeetttyyyy
Along the way were dozens of little seafood restaurants serving extremely fresh fish. We had already eaten but I wish I could have tried some
of them!
loved looking at all the tanks with the cute little fishies THAT WERE GONNA DIE OMNOM
After that Greg went back to work and I had to help my
parents move their stuff to the Lotte Hotel in the center of the city. Long
story, but there was basically a hotel mix up and my parents had to stay in the
Lotte the first and last nights in Ulsan, and in between we were all at the
Hyundai Hotel. It was dumb. Everything is stupid. But once we got there we
found out about this traditional Korean market nearby. So we decided to take a
look! At first we were pleasantly surprised by the fresh fruit section..
smelled so sweet and so fruity!
And the vegetables too looked amazing
smelled soo...veggiely...?
AND THEN THERE WAS THE SEAFOOD SECTION BLAUGHHH. It was
definitely fresh (you could tell that most of the creatures were either barely
alive or had just been recently slaughtered) but it smelled like I was in a tub
filled with Boston Harbor water.
Fish juice...was...everywhere...
So we decided to head back. We passed the Lotte department
store next to the hotel and saw this GIGANTIC ferris wheel.
Locals call it the "Ulsan Eye"
So my Mom and I decided to hop on and see the view!
Little Brucey looks even smaller from up here!!
Jan was unimpressed again.
But this safety sign wasn't too reassuring...
I may keep my seat at the all time BUT YOU CAN'T STOP ME FROM ROMPING!!
The wheel went a lot higher than we expected. I mean, it was
on top of a six story building… but the views were spectacular.
Afterwards we met up with Greg and some of his friends for
dinner along Ilsan beach…
Nothing like warm sea breeze in the night air!
For some delicious DUCK BARBECUE!!
And I tried a noodle sausage. Yup. Sausage made out of noodles. Delicious.
Then I accidentally dropped my fish sausage in my onion and
soy sauce plate, and it splashed ALL OVER MY FRIGGIN SHIRT
LOVE SMELLING LIKE FISH SAUSAGE AND SOY SAUCE AMIRIGHT
Then we went to a western style pub down the street for a
few more beers.
Double fisting w the fam
After that, Greg, his friend George, and I went to ANOTHER
bar and had MORE drinks! Then the bartender lady took my camera and started
taking pictures of herself and stuff.
Isn't she a beauty?
She got a good one of us though. At least I know I look
fantastic.
sort of
And thankfully she gave it back once she was through/got
bored.
She's diabolical
Soon after, I vaguely remember getting into a cab, getting
back to the hotel around 1 or 2 and passing out. Then I had to wake up at 9 to check
out and catch a bus that’d take me to the KTX train station for the bullet
train to Seoul!
