We're OFF to See the Germans! The Wonderful Germans of... uh... shut up.

Oof. So I woke up today with an incredible hang over. No, really, it was incredible. I loved it. Thank you, universe. I think I also may be coming down with a cold. So my rage against all that is holy is doubly intensified. I took around six pills of cold medicine (throughout the day) and a ton of airborne and aspirin. IF I'M NOT GONNA FEEL BETTER MIGHT AS WELL BE SEMI-CONSCIOUS AMIRIGHT?? So I finished packing, we picked up Michelle, and we were off to JFK! Oh, for those of you who don't know, the reason we're going to Germany is to stay and visit with Michelle's sister, Stephanie, who works in the Air Force. She lives in Kaiserslautern, which is the town right outside the Ramstein Air Force base.

We checked in fine, but we didn't get upgraded to first class. Dammit. Oh well. We had a few hours to kill so Michelle and I went to some restaurant in the terminal and had a snack.

Potato chips smothered in blue cheese bechamel and bacon..mmmm..mmm

And a much more healthier snack as well...

Don't judge me. Believe me, I NEEDED IT.

Afterwards it was almost boarding time so we got through security and walked to the gate. Through the giant windows we got a great view of the type of plane we'd be flying in!

Not the right airline but gives you an idea of how huge the A380's are.

We got to our seats, took off smoothly, and sat back and had a drink!

Several drinks.. actually... FREE drinks... the best kind..

We were flying Singapore Airlines. The service was amazing. For dinner we had smoked pork shoulder!

And more wine. BWAHAH.

So after dinner they turned down the lights and it was sleepy time. Which was fine with me. Unfortunately, the woman in front of me decided to have a coughing fit for the next FIVE HOURS, and the women behind us REFUSED TO SHUT UP AND WERE TALKING OBNOXIOUSLY LOUDLY THE ENTIRE TIME. So then I killed them.

After my killing spree, we arrived in Frankfurt! The flight was about 7 hours, which wasn't too bad. We got to customs, and Michelle went first. The officer asked where her destination was. She responded with, "... ... ... Kaizerflethdnfm...?" He looked at her and asked, "WHERE?" Michelle looked back at me quickly and I yelled, "Kasierslautern!" and broke into an uproarious laugh. He started laughing too. Ah, great moments like these... so we got through, got our bags, and went to go look for Michelle's sister, Stephanie, who was picking us up. It took us a while to find each other, though. The airport looked very confusing. But once we united there was nothing but joy and happiness!

...I think? ...Also, Michelle is wearing blanket.

So we took a cute little tram thing to Stephanie's car,

So cute and German!

And were off to Kaiserslautern! It was about an hour away from Frankfurt. Along the way we passed some beautiful German countryside and some giant windmills.

A bird's worst nightmare.

We got to Stephanie's apartment, quickly dropped our stuff off, and she took us to the base. She had to go to a meeting for a bit, so she let us roam free for a while at the KMC Center, which was basically a large mall. We were hungry so we got these delicious deep-fried pork meatball sandwich things.

Yum.

Then we saw this cute Christmas store filled with German wooden toys and decorations and such...

It was so cute!

And then my fear of childhood toys coming alive and killing people kicked in. Especially after seeing this:

There were little holes where their mouths should have been. I believe that's where they SUCK THE SOULS OUTTA YOU.

Then Michelle and I hit the jet lag wall. Hard. Like ran right into it. With about 7 tons of force...

We looked like sad little puppies.

Stephanie returned, and to get our energy up, she took us to the Belgian Club, which was a bar on base where they had 1 euro beers. We also got to meet some of her friends!

I forced them to take a picture of us. Nothing like cheap beer to wake you up, eh?

Afterwards we got back to Stephanie's apartment so she could change. At this point I took the liberty of taking pictures of the beautiful place we'll be staying in!

Her cute little German living room!

Her cute little German kitchen!
So Stephanie lives in a three bedroom, two story, penthouse apartment in the center of Kaiserslautern. Right outside are a variety of shops, cafes, bars, fountains, etc.

Why is everything so darn CUTE!?

For dinner, Stephanie recommended an Indian place nearby, and we realized Michelle had never been to an Indian restaurant (!!!). So off we went! The place was called Restaurant Himalaya.

Sweet naan filled with coconut, raisins, and almonds

I ordered lamb sag. IT WAS SO GOOD. Sooooo goooood.

After dinner, Michelle and I were dead. DEAD, I tell you! So we got back to the apartment, and PASSED OUT. Tomorrow, we're off to Trier, a city with a history that dates back to the Roman empire!
